ReplyDeleteRotten, I am only a fan of shit that works and makes sense. As one who turns wrenches for a wage I am pretty sure that Sram can't make a good front derailleur. If you look at their new 1X11 system it seems they finally figured it out as well....more shit for the lemmings.
ReplyDeleteAs for Shimano, well their shit works awesome. Too bad they are working on electronic Sora...I think it is a shame that the bike world thinks electronic is the future. Get used to it because its gonna be in Wally world soon enough on Magna's....
So to re-phrase the above.....we the end user are stuck with two wrongs.
I guess I can't argue with the FD thing as I have a 1x10 setup on my mountain bike and the Rival FD on my cross bike has never worked quite well, though to be fair I rarely need it and because of that and my laziness, I've never put any effort into making it work better.
ReplyDeleteI'm normally a huge tech-geek and the concept of electronic shifting is interesting to me, though I just don't think I'll ever need it. That makes me feel like a bit of a luddite, but I feel guilty allowing myself to feel that not moving forward with the next big thing makes me a luddite. On the other hand, I hope that introducing all these electronic groups might lower the prices on the "lower-end" non-electronic stuff.
